Cookies and storage
The short version: megoosh doesn't use cookies and doesn't track you. She keeps three small things in your browser so the app works, and that's it. The detail follows.
We don't use cookies
Not one. megoosh sets no cookies, and there are no advertising tags, no tracking pixels and no third-party analytics anywhere in the app, no Google Analytics, nothing of that kind. Nobody outside megoosh is watching what you do here. That's why there's no cookie banner getting in your way.
We do keep three small things on your device
Instead of cookies, megoosh uses your browser's own storage for a few things it genuinely needs. All three stay on your device and are never sent to anyone else. Your sign-in session, so you don't have to request a new email code every time you open the app. Your light or dark setting, so the app opens looking the way you left it. Your week plan, so a half-built plan survives a refresh. That's the lot.
Why we don't ask permission for them
The rules let us store things that are strictly necessary to provide a service you've asked for, without needing consent, and these three are exactly that: you can't stay signed in without a session. They're not used to track you, build a profile, or advertise to you. If we ever wanted to store something on your device that wasn't strictly necessary, we'd ask you first.
What about the usage analytics?
Those are a separate thing, and they only happen if you opted in during sign-up. They aren't stored on your device at all, they're recorded in our own database against your account id, and they're never linked to your food choices. You can find the full detail in our privacy notice. If you'd like to change your mind either way, email us at iona@megoosh.com.
Clearing it
Signing out clears your session. Clearing your browser's site data for megoosh removes all three items, and you can do that from your browser's privacy or history settings; you'll simply be signed out and back to the default theme next time. Your account and your saved recipes live on our servers, so clearing your browser doesn't delete them, use About Me → "Delete my account" for that.
If this changes
If we ever add a cookie or start storing something new on your device, we'll update this page first, and we'll ask for your consent if it's the kind of thing that needs it. Questions: iona@megoosh.com.
