The short version: your food choices are yours, the AI never sees who you are, nothing is sold, and you can take everything away with one email. The detail follows.
Who we are
megoosh is a service of TESTme Health Limited, trading as megoosh (company number SC861611), the "data controller" for your information. Questions, requests or complaints: iona@megoosh.com. We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
What we hold about you, and why
The foods you choose to avoid, the ones you mark to exclude completely, and the ones you flag to decide on, and the safe-food list megoosh builds from your choices. Because the foods you avoid can reveal health information, we treat this as health data and process it only with your explicit consent, which you give during sign-up and can withdraw at any time. megoosh does not hold any medical test or lab report, it only knows what you tell it. Your dietary type (for example vegetarian or dairy-free), used only to shape recipe suggestions. Your recipes and hearts, your personal bank. Your email address, to sign you in (we email you a code; there are no passwords) and to administer the pilot. Usage analytics, only if you opted in, linked to your account id and never to your food choices.
What the AI sees, and what it never sees
Recipe ideas are drafted by an AI model. The model is sent food names only, which foods to avoid, limit and use, and never your name, email or anything that identifies you. Whatever it suggests is then checked, ingredient by ingredient, by our own deterministic safety check before you see it. The AI never decides what is safe for you. Questions you type into Ask megoosh are not stored.
Who helps us run megoosh
megoosh runs on Lovable (app platform) and Supabase (database and sign-in), with email delivery by Mailgun (via Lovable) and AI drafting via the Lovable AI gateway. Each processes data under a data-processing agreement and only on our instructions. Your data is stored in the European region. We never sell your data, and we never share your food choices with anyone else.
How long we keep things
Your data is kept while your account is active. Delete your account yourself at any time (About Me → "Delete my account"), everything about you is removed at once, your food choices, safe-list, recipes, preferences, the lot, and database backups age out within about 7 days. Our internal audit trail keeps non-identifying operational records.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent (we stop using your food choices immediately). You can delete everything yourself in the app (About Me → "Delete my account"), or email us and we'll act within a month, usually much faster. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
What megoosh is not
megoosh is a guidance and convenience tool that works from the foods you tell it to avoid. It only knows what you enter, if you don't add a food, megoosh will treat it as fine to use, so it is up to you to keep your list complete. It is not medical advice and not a diagnosis, and it does not make food safe for people with diagnosed allergies, keep following the advice of your GP, dietitian or consultant.
